This is an absolutely hilarious interview where the UK Security Chief, Lord West manages to contradict himself in a radio interview with BBC Radio 4's Eddie Maire kindly recorded for us by Sophos and put on to Youtube. The tenacity of Eddie Maire at trying to get to the truth and Lord West's strategy at dealing with Eddie is entertainment value alone.

The reality whether stated or not in the interview is that the UK Goverment like any other government must engage in cyberwarfare. It must do to test its defensive and offensive capability when involved in warfare and of course to protect our country. To be frank, the UK government has probably been involved in cyberwarfare for a very long time without realising it, however it is only just beginning to dawn on them the reality and extent of the damage that cyberwar can do and what exactly they could use it for to defend not just UK troops but UK Business from cybercrime and indeed how they could offensively use their new found muscle to go after cyber criminals.

Perhaps if Lord West had been given more time to think about his answer, he would have given a more reasonable and measured response.
